I would like the package specs to have, in addition to the
`description' field, a `long-description' field. The reason for this
is that in a Debian `control' file, there is a Description: of <= 60
characters, and then a paragraph or so of long description that goes
with it. In the `dselect' tool, you see the description to the right
of the packages at the top, and the long description in a pane at the
bottom. Imagine if you split your XEmacs with C-x 2, and in the top
window is something like the [Options | Manage Packages | List &
Install], and in the bottom, when your cursor is on a package's line,
the full description appears there for you to read.
I've written a few of them, but there are many more needing done. I
can generate a patch for yous if you would like this to become part
of the packageing system. I'm trying to cook up a way to use those
package descriptions to autogen debian `control' files for the
package lisp.
