It's the default on Linux where it does something intrinsically useful
-- it allows the usage of the native (Doug Lea) malloc.
If so, then maybe we should go ahead and make this the default for
21.2.x, so any remaining bugs can be shaken out.
I think the code is pretty well shaken down. Have you compared code
size between having it enabled and disabled? Enabling MINIMAL-TAGBITS
results in a substantial size increase.
