I can almost do it with: // Local Variables: // eval: (hide-ifdef-mode 1) // End: The only problem being, I don't want to be asked whether to process the eval every time. Put this in your .emacs (setq-default hide-ifdef-initially t) (add-hook 'c-mode-common-hook '(lambda () (hide-ifdef-mode t))) You can setup 'hide-ifdef-env' to how you want defines to be initialized or you can call commands like hide-ifdef-define. -jeff
