The XEmacs team are proud to announce the availability of a self installing
binary kit of XEmacs 21.1.13 for Microsoft Windows, native and Cygwin 1.1.x
The kit is located at ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/windows/setup.exe and
all the usual mirrors.
This release is different to other releases in that it is supplied through
a `net' installer which will download and install the components you select
over the internet. The installer is based on the cygwin installer. The
release supports binaries for both native Windows (95, 98, NT & W2K) and
for Cygwin 1.1.6 or greater as well as all the relevant XEmacs packages.

I have many problems with the installer.

These are due to the newly release packages. If I had known Steve was going
to do it last night I would have waited. I will regenerate setup.ini as
soon as I have time.

Sorry about that Andy. I actually wasn't aware that netinstaller
would be affected.

Is there any reason *not* to make it a real cygwin package? I mean,
make XEmacs one of the package options available when you try to
install (or update) cygwin.
That would require a SUMO tarball or the cygwin installer to support
sub-packages. So its possible - but I won't be doing it.

But, isn't there already a SUMO tarball?
I suppose I meant a combined binary and SUMO kit. Although you could do the
two separately. I also forgot to mention that the installer does a lot of
registry hacking as well.
