Why is it a mess ? I find it pretty simple...
Switching between branches is pretty simple. If you only do things
like "cvs checkout" and "cvs update", it's very simple.
It's a "f**king mess" if you ever have to manage branches (i.e.,
check files in to multiple branches). It's a royal pain in the
proverbial a**.
