Well, it has always been a problem that elisp packages not designed
for XEmacs specifically, have to be tested and tweaked.
But now we have a great mechanism to roll out new packages and a very
convenient one for the user too.
The fundamental fact of having two different Emacs strains remains.

I just packaged up a few little lisp utilities I maintain for a small
group of people at work.
And it works great!
It's just so much more convenient to have an internal package download
directory and send the guys a short e-mail saying: please upgrade to
the latest packages.
