I guess I didn't make it clear enough: I left the .patch extension
as octet-stream because there are valid binary files (on the PC) whose
file extensions may be ".patch".
However, your idea of dynamically determining the type based upon
file contents in an excellent suggestion (and would also solve the
current .diff/.patch dichotomy). Just a simple text/binary test (ala
Perl) would be sufficient for a large number of cases. I'll try to get
something working in a couple of days or so.
