 I am running

 emacs-version "21.0 \"San Clemente\" XEmacs Lucid (beta41)"
 CDE 1.0.2
 Solaris 2.5.1 
benn is a 167 MHz Sun Ultra 1 SBus (sun4u) running SunOS 5.6
CDE 1.2
XEmacs 21.0 b41+patches (the ones you also have)

 and cannot see any action when dragging one of
 [ TEXT DRAG TEST ]    [ FILE DRAG TEST ]    [ FILES DRAG TEST ]    [ URL DRAG TEST ]
 from droptest.el into dtfile or dtpad. 
Perhaps it's a version thing... but thuesday I will take another look at this
topic.
