As far as our particular matter is concerned, I have absolutely
nothing against beginning-of-buffer pushing the mark, and doing
so even if the region is already active, but this is a damned
*non-obvious* thing and consequently shouldn't be the default
because by default, *it's not logic*.
I agree.

Ultimately, it is only the default behaviour that is being discussed.
Personally, I don't like it.
Neither do I.
I congratulate all the people out there who test XEmacs by loading
sample.emacs as their .emacs. You are much hardier testers than I am,
and I appreciate each and every one of you who do so.
The basic question as Martin has raised it to me in conversation over
the phone, is why do all the defaults suck? `xemacs -vanilla' stinks.
If there is anyone who can stand editing in an `xemacs -vanilla'
environment for any time longer than to reproduce a bug someone has
reported, please speak up, otherwise let's have some discussion on
changing defaults around.
I *know* I'm going to hate the consensus, but if there are fewer
people who hate the defaults the result will be positive.
Um, no holds barred, please feel free to flame away.
