Nobody has detected it probably because the rule was unenforced. makeinfo has a grim history (with me at least) of complaining about stuff that nobody should care about. What difference does it make if a period or a comma comes after the closing brace? But we should definitely fix the manuals so that makeinfo shuts up, because there will be no peace in the valley until we do.
