Here's a sample C++ file:

Go to the definition of foo() and try to hit tab, or try to reindent.
The mode thinks there is a brace mismatch, but if you look you'll
see that there is no mismatch; blink-matching-open also sees each
matching brace if you do it at each closing brace.
If you move the opening brace of the MyClass definition to the
previous line, you have to go after the definition of foo() to
get the same error. Similar things happen if you relocate the
braces of hello() or change indentation by adding spaces.
This happens even without a init.el file.

CC Mode maintainers: I dropped bug-gnu-emacs because I don't know if
this manifests on GNU Emacs or not.

Please report upstream to the cc-mode maintainers (use C-c C-b in
cc-mode; we would like you to do it so they'll know exactly your
configuration of XEmacs and cc-mode). XEmacs's "character syntax"
functions are known to be buggy, but this doesn't seem to be due to
any of the bugs (they have to do with comment parsing, and removing
the comment did not help) I know about in XEmacs.
On the other hand, reindenting namespace according to the "stock" (I
have no cc-mode customizations) configuration eliminated the error.
It seems to me that cc-mode (or perhaps XEmacs) doesn't like your
preferred style for some reason.
In particular, if _either_ of the open braces in column 1 (under
namespace and MyClass::MyClass) are indented by one space, I get no
error signalled when indenting the line containing "void foo". If I
add
void bar()
{
}
following void foo() to your example (exactly as you wrote it), then I
still get the error using TAB on void foo, but no error when using TAB
on void bar.

The problem does in fact occur in GNU Emacs as well. However, it
seems to be within the cc-mode package after 5.25. With no .emacs
file and cc-mode 5.25, I couldn't reproduce the problem. When I
installed a local copy of cc-mode 5.28 then the problem reappears as
described below.
I've appended the bug report buffers for both the 5.25 and 5.28
situations under GNU Emacs.

New subject: BUG: Japanese UTF-8 files > 65 Kbyte get corrupted during saving
Attached is a small lisp file "bug.el" to reproduce the problem.
Execute it as follows:
mfabian＠gregory:~/xemacs-bug$ LANG=C xemacs -q -batch -eval "(require
'un-define)" -l bug.el
Wrote /tmp/utf-8-output
mfabian＠gregory:~/xemacs-bug$ LANG=C iconv -f utf-8 -t euc-jp /tmp/utf-8-output >
/dev/null
iconv: illegal input sequence at position 65535

and you see that one Japanese character in the output has been
destroyed.
This problem seems to occur for any big Japanese files in UTF-8. When
saving them, characters will be destroyed at file positions close to

Mule-UCS 0.84 from the sumo packages from 2002-05-22.
It's a really annoying bug, because it destroys data when editing big
Japanese files in UTF-8.

Attached is a test file 'euro.UTF-8' which contains an Euro Sign in
UTF-8. When loading it into XEmacs with
C-u C-x C-f euro.UTF-8 RET utf-8 RET
the Euro Sign is converted into a question mark:

Do you have latin-unity installed and enabled (specifically, you need
the iso-8859-15 coding system)? If you already do, then my guess is
that Mule-UCS doesn't know about Latin-9.

I think so, because of
(find-coding-system 'iso-8859-15)

I'm using the sumo tarballs, i.e. I certainly have latin-unity
installed. And I have
(require 'latin-unity)
(require 'latin-euro-input)
Probably further enabling is not required.
If you already do, then my guess is
that Mule-UCS doesn't know about Latin-9.
