Ahh, I'm sorry I just realized that all #ifdef USE_XFONTSET were
removed from the source tree except input-method-xlib.c. I was off
the point.
Is use of xim acceptable to you as a workaround to get the menus, or
does it get in the way too much or cost too much X traffic or
something?
Basically I never use XIM for Emacsen, and once I had a trouble
running a remote XEmacs with XIM support on a Cygwin/XFree86 server
(XEmacs always crashed in an IM related function during startup). But
now I rarely use Cygwin so the workaround is acceptable, I think.
