If it's not buggy, will be maintained, won't change its call
interface, etc, etc, it probably does solve our licensing problems,
although not those of our users. However, it's a direct derivative of
giflib, and IIRC Jareth's experience with giflib doesn't leave us with
total confidence in its stability.
But it's not going to be immediately available on any platform besides
Red Hat Linux, right? Debian Linux doesn't seem to have it, anyway.
Nor does
ftp.redhat.com, for that matter. Where did you see this? A
web search turned up only
