Yes they are obsolete. I didn't have to make any changes to get things
working on XEmacs.
Allright, I've removed them.
Incidentally I see patches being applied to these packages but there
is no
record of the patches being fed back to the package authors. This is a
recipe for losing fixes. I feed all jde patches back to Paul Kinnucan and
he's pretty receptive about incorporating XEmacs changes.
100% agreement. I always try to feed upstream too.

jde 2.2.9beta10 seems pretty stable. I may submit if I can get paul to
incorporate the changes I had to make.
