I have updated semantic to version 1.4.
I have pending patches for jde, eieio and speedbar but will not apply for
the moment since they reflect beta versions of these packages.

are they obsolete now? I see they weren't updated, but still are in

Yes they are obsolete. I didn't have to make any changes to get things
working on XEmacs.
Incidentally I see patches being applied to these packages but there is no
record of the patches being fed back to the package authors. This is a
recipe for losing fixes. I feed all jde patches back to Paul Kinnucan and
he's pretty receptive about incorporating XEmacs changes.

jde 2.2.9beta10 seems pretty stable. I may submit if I can get paul to
incorporate the changes I had to make.

This doesn't seem to be used in all cases today.
