I noticed just now when upgrading edit-utils that the problem I've reported several times with mouse-avoidance-fancy-hook (that it causes post-command-hook to be set to nil by causing an error) has still not been fixed. I include below my "fix", which is simply to wrap a condition-case around it, in the hope that it can be included in the next release.
