goes in other countries, but in France, Ph.D. defense is just a matter of
protocol. Once you're authorized to defend, it means that you've got it.
I think there is such a high correlation between wanting to do this
and
pending-delete that it makes no sense to add yet another configuration
option (whose default value would be 'depends-on-pending-delete).
I disagree, in the particular case of string-rectangle. The special
point with this function is that it doesn't currently use the rectangle you
selected, but just the left side. In other words, the non pending-del behavior
can be achieved by just selecting a 0-width rectangle.
It maybe time to move pending delete to a less obscure package
(maybe
even the core or xemacs-base), but that is another matter.
I'm all for putting it in the core, actually.
