Dear Bug Team! I last ran into this problem with EFS/Cygwin/XEmacs several years ago, at another job. Either it's still a problem, or I'm missing some configuration details. When I do a "visit-file" of "/unixhostname:" and press TAB (twice, so it gives me a listing), it gives me the standard completion buffer, showing all the files and directory names in my home directory on the remote host, but all but one of the entries end with "^M", except for most of the directory entries, which end with "^M/". There are actually two ".." entries, one as "../" (the only one without a ^M) and the other as "..^M/". At this point, I can use my middle button on one of the directory entries, and it will navigate into that directory, and then replace the completion buffer with the contents of that new directory. If I instead click my middle button on an entry which is a file, instead of a directory, I get the stack trace following this.
