I don't see it. You shouldn't be able to commit to that in any case,
or anybody would be able to. Why you don't get an error, I'm not
sure.
I think the sane thing to do is to have a separate workspace where you
work, then switch over to the pristine checkout, and do your dirty
work quickly.
