We fiddled with regexp parameters some time back at William Perry's
request. [... digging...] It was in May of 1998 and we tweaked the
regexp cache size. There was an increase in memory usage with no
perceptible change of performance. Richard backed out the change and
I never put it into a released XEmacs.
We can revisit this if people wish to experiment.
