Yes, indeed. After all, who knows, someday we may try to sync to Mule
3.0 and we'd like to keep the file names more or less the same. Also,
this is the same mechanism that we use to keep a non-mule XEmacs from
finding (and blowing chunks) on Mule packages. I suppose it might
theoretically be generalizable to stuff that only works on Windose or
whatever, should that issue come up.
That list of extra files is awf'l long; why do we need ethiopian.el
(among others)? (I know, I know, interfile dependencies.) Is it
worth trying to clean that up?
