We don't know why, there may be an optimization isse. Sorry I can't

xemacs-beta mailing list for "gnus-compile" you should find the
thread.
I did M-x gnus-compile to prevent the on the fly compilation. But
since I never have these crashes with ordinary gnus usage I doubt that
this is the culprit
LDAP is also known to cause problems due to library mismatches, but
the bug that Gnus triggers aborts in that same place.
This seems more reasonable. Actually I suspect some ldap
initialization or connect handling bug since it normally happens
either on first use of ldap or after a long pause.
