Hi Paul,
I've tried to reproduce this on my AIX 5.1 box with also the VisualAge
Compiler V6.0. Using the header files mentioned above and an additional
line in configure for aix5, building 21.4.12 as well as 21.5.10 went
fine (with and without the portable dumper). Apart from the fact that I
also got a bunch of warnings telling me that _ALL_SOURCE has been
redefined (only for 21.4.12).
Both versions run ok for me, so I don't know why it doesn't work for you
on AIX 5.1. Are you sure that all the latest OS patches have been
applied? Have you already tried running "lppchk" to check for any
inconsistencies in the installation?
Regards,
Markus
Hi Markus,
I could not do it right away, but I finaly managed to download 21.4.12,
change configure by adding:
*-*-aix5.0 ) opsys=aix5 ;;
*-*-aix5.1 ) opsys=aix5-1 ;;
and adding the two file "aix5.h" and "aix5-1.h" in src/s
I checked that oslevel returns 5100-3, the latest maintenance package. I
have added fixes from the IBM site regularly using the "new this month"
feature. VIsual Age C is at the latest level (6.0.0.1)
llpchk -v does not return anything. The compilations goes as before,
with the same messages about _ALL_SOURCE.... and xemacs still crashes
with the same problem I reported. It works if one is not in X11 mode
though. I have to say the last time I udpated in december (no fixes
appeared in January that concern the system) mozilla 1.2.1 (binary
downloaded from
mozzila.org) which worked fine before core dump as well.
I never had this kind of problem with AIX before (at least not since I
started using 4.1...)
I may just have missed a few fixes. The IBM web site lacks a "check my
system and download all the latest fixes which are good for it" function....
I have not tried 21.5.10 yet....
