I consider that a problem. It could very well be that bar.el was
removed for reasons other than obsoleteness and could be causing
problems etc.
On the other hand I don't think being allowed to specify the version
at runtime is worth the hassle (I agree it is hard). Maybe one should
have more control at startup time of the package path. I think
dependencies etc are best left to a static tool, i.e. a package
manager.
I optimized the hell out of it, i.e. I implemented every single
suggestion there was agreement on.
It was and/is appreciated, "I was there". I am sorry if you get the
feeling I am shooting the messenger M-Backspace implementer.
I was just trying to point out (mainly for Hrvoje and Steve) that as
a long as cleanlyness is going to be comprised for speed there are
other possibilities apart from sticking everything in a single lisp
dir.
