xemacs doesn't have the xauth cookie.
I've taken care of the xauth stuff - even if I do xhost +host and don't do
it with openssh
I have a patched editclient.sh that runs xauth merge correctly from
xemacs if XAUTHORITY is set. actually now XEmacs seems to be better
when its not authorized to connect to the display and just come back
with an "X server not responding".
