I'm compiling XEmacs fresh from CVS on Windows 2k SP3 and Visual C++ 7
(Visual Studio .NET). Here are the highlights from my config.inc:

Change this to
USE_PORTABLE_DUMPER=0
and see if it helps. (Setting it to 1 caused my build process to fail
with similar symptoms, too the last time I tried)

This seems to have worked. So can we then assume that the portable
dumper is broken in Windows? Who takes care of this?
(And until it's fiexed can I make the suggestion that someone turn it
OFF as the default in nt/config.inc.samp?)

I'm using VS.Net and Portable Dumper. Try to change the memory
allocation strategy in src/regex.c (See Stephen's answer to my previous
message).
Also could that be because of tiff and xface missing (I have both of
them).
