OK. Maybe it is the fact that I haven't build xemacs with mule support
that is the problem. When I do a simple make I get the following
problem in mule-base. (And trying to compile things there seems to be
a bad idea if no mule support is available. Right!?)
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/local/src/xemacs-packages/mule/mule-base'
/usr/local/src/xemacs/src/xemacs -vanilla -batch \
-eval "(setq autoload-package-name \"mule-base\")" \
-l autoload -f batch-update-directory .

xemacs exiting.
make[2]: *** [auto-autoloads.el] Error 255
Well I removed the mule directory from SUBDIRS in the top Makefile and
things started to compile. ;-) I guess I'm on my way.
