The XEmacs user base has changed dramatically over the last three
years in favor of systems that are typically single-user.
How can you tell? One xemacs install on a UNIX-like OS may be used by
hundreds of users, as at my current site. One xemacs install on a
windows OS will, I'd bet, almost certainly be used by a single person.
Thus, you can't tell from number of downloads.
So, I'm really curious...
What makes you make that statement about the shift in user base?
I've never used XEmacs (or GNU Emacs) in a multiuser environment
by
the way -- twelve years and counting ...
As a contrary data point, almost all of the several environments that
I've used some form of emacs in have been multiuser.
