It would be. Had I realized that it didn't only matter for the MD5 computation
but also for the transfer I would have pressed for this to be done earlier

OK, I see. Btw there seems to be a typo in the patch: it says
coding-system-for-read twice in the let clause. Fsfmacs has
coding-system-for-write the second time.
