Current mercurial head for the auctex package shows version 1.49 in
the Makefile.
The AUCTeX situation is a mess. Current AUCTeX >= V11.84 expects to
be able to run configure (they use it to find various TeX stuff,
IIRC), and perhaps other commands: just XEmacs is not enough to build
the package. They have their own way of building something that looks
like an XEmacs package, but it's not built in the same environment
that we use for XEmacs packages.
Has it been around long enough that we can consider merging the
branch
to head? If not, please advise what I should do about the texinfo
modifications. Thanks,
If you need to make modifications to current Mercurial head, do that,
I think. One of these days I'll get around to fixing up a proper
Makefile for current AUCTeX. (I was hoping they'd get it into ELPA,
and then they'd have to do something about those requirements, but
ELPA turns out to have an assignment requirement, so they haven't had
to deal with the issue after all.)
