Sorry, I misunderstood the problem. I didn't have gpm running. I
assumed that the issue was whether XEmacs was linked with libgpm.
With `gpm' running, support for it compiled into
XEmacs, and running on the Linux text console, if I push `C-z' to
suspend, it hangs there with the cursor in the lower left. The mouse
cursor is there if I wiggle the mouse, but seems like it only shows
half the movements or something, like it's being interrupted
continually. If I push `C-c', XEmacs prompts whether to autosave,
then whether to abort and dump core. It will not resume. If I kill
gpm, it will suspend and resume fine.
This is exactly the behaviour that I observe.
