The doc string dv>says that this library reads gif, and can write it without using dv>LZW. COuld this be of interest, with regards to the licensing problems? Nope. Basically, we don't write gifs, so we're hoping to avoid problems that way. And ungif is of very questionable help anyways, because the 99.99999% of the gifs in the world ARE already LZW compressed, and we have to deal with them.
