I don't really want to talk about security policies. I've already
decided on my security policy. The basic thrust is that I don't trust
the network but do trust my X clipboard. I have an app that stores
all of my username/passwords and allows me to easily copy the password
to the clipboard. The problem is that in xemacs I'm unable to paste
the password. I get a complaint about mouse-track needing to be
bound. I tried to modify the read-passwd-map to add a binding for
button2 with no success. Since all but two of my passwords are
unrememberable (the next best thing to line-noise), I have to paste
the password into a term and then manually type it in; very
aggravating and much less secure than just pasting it in.
Is there a good reason (other than historical security concerns with
pasting a password from the clipboard) why I can't use the middle
mouse button to paste a password into xemacs when prompted for a
password?
