Any clues what's going on here?
The new package hierarchy is causing problems. Basically, any
"standard" subdirectories in the package subdirectory must be added to
the packages.el:`packages-special-base-regexp' variable (*AND* XEMACS
MUST BE RE-DUMPED). My "delete packages" patch of a few days ago fixes
the problem that you're seeing (the "pkginfo" subdirectory is used as
the install location for packages), by adding "pkginfo" to
`packages-special-base-regexp', but there's still at least one more
problem it doesn't fix: the "man" subdirectory also needs to be added to
"packages-special-base-regexp". I don't have the time to submit a patch
for this, and so I'd appreciate it if someone could generate a patch and
submit it.
