For the record, I don't use Ubuntu. I have never even downloaded
Ubuntu, much less installed it on anything. Please, archive-searching
public, do not send your Ubuntu questions to me because I will deposit
them in /dev/null for future consideration.

Go to
http://packages.ubuntu.com/. Note that it has a place where you
can search for files to find out what packages they are in. If you type
in /usr/include/X11/bitmaps/gray, it says
x11/xbitmaps
I discovered this within a few seconds with a Google search. I highly
recommend performing such searches when you are faced with a problem
like this.
