To any one that can help,
I am trying to use xemacs with cgwin on windows to be able to telnet to a
unix server. If I bring up cygwin by itself and try to telnet to the unix
server then I can telnet in just fine. The problem is that I do not have the
functionality of the xemacs editor because the term type that I need is not
available.
When I bring up xemacs and go to the mini buffer using Meta-x and type
telnet and the hostname it does not give me an error and does open a new
buffer but with no prompt of any type. In the small information bar at the
bottom of the buffer it saids *telnet-hostname* (telnet:sp-unix).
If I try to telnet from the command line in a buffer then I get a message
Signal 127 and then a prompt again.
xemacs is a great editor but is useless to me without being able to telnet.
Instead of cygwin I wonder if I should try to run emacs under x11, any
suggestions and instructions would be appreciated.
Also if someone knew of a free emulator that I could use to start emacs or
xemacs that would have the right key mapping and the mouse would be alive. I
have tried to use emacs and xemacs in procomm plus 3, Anzio and Qvtnet. It
will come up but a lot of the functionality is lost such as the meta keys
and the mouse.
Thank you for any help,
