Hi Norbert, I think I said this before.
I consider this BrokenAsDesigned (I know it's not your fault).
Can't we do anything to protect the user from this highly surprising
and misleading experiece?
This is probably the greatest gripe I have about our package fetching
process.
Come to think of it:
* The fact that a vanilla XEmacs installation can't fetch packages
is probably competing for first place :-)
Other than that I love our package system whenever I see ppl on #emacs
repeat the some dull routine:
How do I install x?
Put it somewhere on your load path.
What's load path?
...
Put is somewhere and update load-path.
How do I ...
It's also great that we got info, html, autoloads and custom-load
generation automated as part of a nice makefile infrastructure.
Came in handy when I created the XEmacs erc package.
