Adrian, Thankyou verymuch for your useful suggestions. Now, I installed the stable version XEmacs 21.1.14.(By expanading ./configure etc,.. xemacs-21.1.14.tar.gz) When I type xemacs, the xemacs windows props up. No problem. But I could not find the /usr/local/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages directory to install the efs, and xemacs base files.

However, from the ftp sites, I could not find the following other files to complete the installation. efs-21.1.14-pkg.tar.gz xemacs-base-21.1.14.pkg.tar.gz I tried many sites. if you could suggest the remaining tips, I think I am done. Sorry for giving some trouble.
