This problem is still alive and kicking.
Unfortunately I don't have time to look into it.

Subject: I think the xemacs FTP package directory is fouled up...

I installed 21.1.11 and the sumo tarball, and when I do a list and
install on the manage packages menu, I get:
(1) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (ftp-error FTP Error: CWD
550 /pub/xemacs/packages/package-index.LATEST.pgp/: Not a directory
failed: )
It's also possible that the tarball is fouled up, but I don't think so.
The package tool is looking for a different file type than the
package-index.LATEST.pgp is.

In order to save my hands, I am cutting back on my mail. I also write
as succinctly as possible -- please don't be offended. If you send me
mail, you _will_ get a response, but please be patient, especially for
XEmacs-related mail. If you need an immediate response and it is not
apparent in your message, please say so. Thanks for your understanding.
