One thing to consider is that it's not necessarily the ammount of surface that is important. The human eye is sensitive to this but to contrast also, and to me the visual bell constrast is most annoying. It would be interesting for visual bell users to experiment ringing with colors closer to the normal ones, and see if they're still annoyed. --didier
