I've read the paper on Hoard which also compares Doug Lea's malloc
implementation as used in glibc with Hoard. Their results indicate
that Hoard is faster but also uses more memory.
I don't have a comparison of features between Hoard and the glibc
implementation.
Before switching somebody should run a number of real tests with
XEmacs - on different platforms.
