This is a followup on previous reports and a correspondence with Stephen. I tried to use M-x eps-report-bug, but that failed with a "string-p" error, and produced an empty draft so I am using the generic bug-form. As suggested by Stephen, under RedHat 8.0 (to which, unfortunately, I upgraded last week) ftp requires an additional argument: (efs-ftp-program-args (quote ("-i" "-n" "-g" "-v" "-u"))) However, even with this, nslookup bogs down with the error: efs is unable to determine a fully qualified domain name for the local host to send as an anonymous ftp password. The function `system-name' is not returning a fully qualified domain name. An attempt to obtain a fully qualified domain name with `efs-nslookup-program' (currently set to "nslookup") has elicited no response from that program. Consider setting `efs-generate-anonymous-password' to an email address for anonymous ftp passwords. For more information see the documentation (use C-h v) for the variables `efs-nslookup-program' and `efs-nslookup-threshold'. After setting this variable, the next error is "Cannot get home directory on ftp.xemacs.org" What's the next step? BTW -- this happens both in 21.5.10 and 21.4.12.
