 Is a fundamental thing, or is that just a peculiarity of the current
 implementation?  It would be nice to be able to support DnD between as 
 much programs as possible. 
Choice number 2. The complete API will support runtime choice (and perhaps
even multiple in one drag -- as long as the protocols support this) of the
drag protocol. But for now 21.0 will only compile with one protocol.
