Hi Andy,
I use pop3.el of gnus-version "Gnus v5.6.44" with (emacs-version)
"XEmacs 21.0 \"Pyrenean-pre4\" [Lucid] (i386-pc-win32) of Tue Oct 13
1998 on TWILIGHT".
Excerpt from .gnus:
(setq nnmail-pop-password-required t)
(setq nnmail-spool-file
(list
(or (getenv "MAIL") (concat "/usr/spool/mail/"
(user-login-name)))
(concat "po:" (user-login-name))
))
Excerpt from .emacs:
(custom-set-variables
<lines deleted by Adrian>
'(nnmail-movemail-program (quote nnmail-pop3-movemail))
'(pop3-debug nil t)
<lines deleted by Adrian>)
nnmail-pop3-movemail does not cache the pop password currently, so I
have to type it every time[1]. Lars has promised to implement this in
his great pbackend overhaul of Pterodactyl Gnus.
