In a case like this, your best bet is to grab the up-to-date version,
fix what you can without too much effort, and then come back to XEmacs
Beta for advice/work on the rest of the port. Then we can update it
in the packages.
Jerry James <james(a)xemacs.org> is probably the most familiar with the
debugger ui libraries, and he has expressed his intention to become
more active in the nearish future, although he still faces time
constraints. (I'm not sure how much he knows about gud.el; I think
his main focus was on gdb.el. You can hope they're a little bit
similar.) You could ping him directly, depending on how urgent this
is from your point of view.
