Hello everybody,
I have two problems with the customization of Xemacs 21.5.29,
which was shipped with openSUSE 11.4:
1) When I change the font in Xemacs under Options and save it,
then it is written to the file ~/.xemacs/custom.el, for example
(custom-set-faces
'(default ((t (:size "8pt" :family "Lucidatypewriter"))) t))
But when I start Xemacs the next time, it starts with the old
font instead of Lucidatypewriter. That means, Xemacs writes the
font-settings to custom.el, but seems not to read them from there
(other settings, however, are read).
2) The menubar is so huge, that e.g. the Buffer-knob is outside
of my window. This is very annoying. As I understood,
menubar-settings are done in the ~/.Xresources. But whichever
changes I make in the lines
*menubar*Font: -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
*popup*Font: -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
*menubar*FontSet: -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-iso10646-1, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-jisx0208.1983-0, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-jisx0201.1976-0
*popup*FontSet: -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-iso10646-1, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-jisx0208.1983-0, \
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-jisx0201.1976-0
they are completely ignored (after doing "xrdb -load
~/.Xresources). How can I resize the menubar?
By the way, can one open the menus of the menubar by keys? The
letters on the menubar (e.g. an underlined B for Buffer) seem to
indicate that a certain key-combination opens the buffer-menu,
but I couldn't figure out, how to do it. That would help me to
open menus which I can't see on the window.
Thanks for any response
Wolfgang
