This is not necessarily a good idea by default. Mac, like Windows,
likes to localize these paths, and I suspect that this will cause
bugs.
Really? On my wife's German-localized Mac, they're called the same. It
appears the Finder displays them differently.
Not to mention that the spaces in these will definitely be a PITA to
deal with in any UI context, because XEmacs still doesn't handle those
at all smoothly.
Just changing the paths would also cause problems for people using a
shared home directory between (regular) Unix and Mac (like me), or
switching between the X11 and the Carbon. We could probably look for
them if the searches at the usual locations fail. Would that be
reasonable?
