Hi All!
The XEmacs logo in the upper left corner takes up a third of the
window height in my setup of Internet Explorer and Mozilla.

Recently it has been suggested to make downloading and bug reporting
more easily reachable on the website.
Here is what I came up with:

(This page is a mockup, so don't bother clicking any links in it.)
Pros:
Download and bug reporting information is easily reachable for first
time visitors.
More of each web page is visible without scrolling.
Cons:
The new look appears less visually pleasing to me personally.
The unreadable background text in the logo makes it lose much of its
merit.
Request for feedback:
What do others think?
Would it be worth my while to create a proper patch for template.html
and template-de.html to implement this?

Strongly agree. Please _do_ convert to this new template. FWIW, I
have always liked the logo.

Have you considered moving the Emacs webring stuff to the bottom of
the page ?

That is only on the main page.
But we don't need to feature it prominently at the top.
What do others think about this?
Should it go to the sidebar? Where there?

i could have a go a shrinking it while keeping the background bits visible

I really like the big logo. If you would put
"Download XEmacs for Windows"
and
"Download XEmacs Source Tarballs"
in one cell, you could keep it ;-).
Something like
Downloading:

- XEmacs Source Tarballs
Why do the cells have to be grey?

No, it's the height of the logo that hurts, no the width.

web-mirror info.
