I'm trying to build packages from CVS with XEmacs 21.5.28
(patched with the
autoload changes for defclass and friends from hg), starting with "make
distclean autoloads".
I suspect make distclean is not good enough; you probably need to sand
the bits off the metal and check out again.
By the way, I see some PACKAGE_FUTURE stuff in ede/Makefile and
semantic/Makefile, but there's nothing matching *package-future* in
my CVS checkout, but on the other hand nothing seems to be using
PACKAGE_FUTURE for anything.
That must be leakage from my workspace, my bad. It should be harmless
(since there will be no definition for PACKAGE_FUTURE a reference will
turn into the empty string), but I should fix it, probably by
committing the package-future stuff. Then you won't need to patch
lisp/autoloads.el. (And package-future automatically turns itself off
if you do patch lisp/autoloads.el.)
