 You're right. I haven't. And to get xemacs to compile, I don't need
 to (since either Fred's suggestion or using an older version of
 math.h will accomplish that). 
We are running in circles here.  The reason why I asked you to try
without HAVE_MATHERR is that having to use __exception might be a
"dont-use-me" sign.

 For that community (as well as most others), XEmacs should
 eventually build out of the box.
