*sigh* Try writing Steve <steve(a)kbuxd.necst.nec.co.jp>. Martin
<martin(a)xemacs.org> recently reared his head; try asking him.
In the meantime Just Do It. If Martin says it's "simple and
effective," I'm sure it is. Change the sense of the ifdef to ifndef
so that it can easily be undone if somebody runs into whatever bug bit
Steve. Initial and date a comment "slb's comment seems irrelevant
now; using ORDINARY_LINK pending consultation with Steve and Martin."
And don't change your mail address; we'll be sending you all link
problems on Linux for expert analysis. ;-)

The only comment in configure.in pertaining to libPW says HP/UX has a
working alloca there. Those six letters mean "Magic is loose in the
world. Anything [bad] can happen!" as far as I can tell. :-)
However, I don't have a libPW at all. Do you? Does anybody on Linux?
At that date, Linux was still using HJ Liu libc, maybe even libc4 was
prevalent.
I think the risks are extremely small.
